Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Why is installing the Privileged Helper required?

A. To securely manage macOS kernel packet filter (pf) rules and sharing services, administrative permission is required once via Apple's official SMAppService framework. Once authorized, it operates fully autonomously without asking for passwords.

Q. Does RoamSwitch impact battery life?

A. No. RoamSwitch uses a passive, event-driven architecture based on native macOS SCDynamicStore callbacks rather than constant polling. CPU and battery impact is practically zero.

Q. Is Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) supported?

A. Yes. RoamSwitch is exclusively compiled and optimized for Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4 or later) to deliver high speed and energy efficiency. (Intel Macs are not supported).

Q. Can I get a refund after purchase?

A. As a digital product, refunds and cancellations for change of mind are generally not accepted. Please use the free version first to confirm it works in your environment and doesn’t disrupt your workflow. Customers in the EU and UK consent to immediate delivery and waive the statutory right of withdrawal at checkout. If a material defect in RoamSwitch prevents normal use, contact us via the form above and we’ll handle it case by case.

Q. You’re a solo developer — what happens to my license if development stops?

A. Pro licenses are validated fully offline, so activated devices keep working even if our server goes away. If the product is discontinued we keep the final signed build available, and the key components (MCP server, detection logic, SDK) are already on GitHub under the MIT license. See “Business Continuity & End-of-Life Policy” on the Legal page for details.

Reporting a security issue

If you find a vulnerability in the RoamSwitch app or lafine.net, please contact us through the form above and choose “Bug report or technical issue”; mentioning “security” in the subject or body helps. We ask that you hold off on public disclosure until a fix is released. We will not take legal action over good-faith security research. We aim to acknowledge reports within 5 business days. Scope: the RoamSwitch app and lafine.net.
